Sister Soul

Black as night

And about as old

So goes the story of my soul

Who knows where she has been

She remembers forest paths

And pools of deep green

She'll reveal herself, but not too soon

My old, old, friend

This Daughter of the Moon

She once danced so long ago

In a body that I do not know

But there she was, and she's still within me

Until I'm too old and she has to leave

She stalks my mind right through the night

Tears me up between wrong and right

She gives my eyes that feral stare

She tells the trees what leaves to wear

She'll reveal herself (etc)

She picks up on the slightest sound

My dreams are Lucid when she's around

I'm bound by time yet she floats out there

She rushes past like a breath of fresh air

When I'm down she's a deep, dark pool

When I'm up she dresses me like a Fool

A singing dancing joker and clown

But I don't lack depth when she's around.

She'll reveal herself (etc)

Spell

Walking uphill

Against the rain

Mind on fire and

Soul aflame

Can't hold me back

Hold me back

Back to the stones again

She made me laugh

She made me cry

She made me low

While she got high

But she is flesh

And these, my Gods

Guarding the stones again

Crack of wood

Whispered leaves

Bitten by wind-snapping

Icy teeth

Can't hold me back

Can't hold me back

Back with the Gods again

Hold my hand

Spin me round

A Spirit-Circle

Ringstone round

Lift me up

Beyond the trees

My Witch-soul flies again

There I leave her

Cold as ice

No more waiting

No more lies

It is all gone, now

There is none left

Left with the stones again

Back to the wind

Soul with the stars

Mind left healing

Mental scars

Time will take them

And I'll learn from them

When I'm back at the stones

Again

Sarah's Song

The night is dark, theres not a sound

Shut out the light, shut out the town

A soft pillow to raise my head

And now not a sound can wake the dead

And oh,oh, into her arms I'll go--

Oh, oh, into her arms I'll go--

Into her arms I'll go--

Into her arms I'll go.

There is no Heaven, there is no Hell

Just the Gods within, so far as I can tell

I know the route, I don't need to pack

I'm Lucid again as she welcomes me back

And oh-oh, into her soul I'll go--

Oh, oh, into her soul I'll go--

Into her sould I'll go--

Into her sould I'll go.

Wrapped up in her cold embrace

Embodies everything I've had to face

Thoughts of love, of sex and death

Will of steel put to the test

But oh-oh, back into the womb I'll go--

Back into the womb I'll go--

Into the womb I'll go.

Cactus Night

Gotta find some place to run to

End to the questing flight

Searching for the answers

Deep into the Cactus Night

Office grind and schedule

Same across the globe

Sky hangs loose like a velvet noose

And there's darkness on my road

Dried up river lizard

Hidden almost out of sight

Followed him through the desert heat

And through the cool of the Cactus Night

Proudly feathered tepees

Not the only thing I saw

In a home for battered women

I saw the hand of tribal law

Hollow eyed and from the past

And driving pickup vans

Their packs of dogs growling quietly

On the banks of the Rio Grande

So I found this place to run to

Just part of my questing flight

But I only found more questions

Hidden deep in the Cactus Night

'Scraper Days

I'll sing a song

And you can sing along

Bout why it always goes this way

Find a friend

But it always ends

And she never seems to stay

And she'll party on

When I'm long done

And dusted with this place

And all I've got

Is photos and memories

Of 'scraper and desert days

Coming home

God Im so alone

I've lived my last four weeks just for you

And you fit me in

Between your shifts

When you had nothing else to do

But it's almost gone now

And to get it back

Well, I almost believed in your god

Though sometimes I think

When my heart stops and sinks

That its me who carries a cross

I have so much love to give

Sometimes stronger than I can bear

Sometimes stronger than the rising sun

And like this song, it seems to come from nowhere

And I can never really see ahead

Nor practise what I learn

And as this sun hits my neck

And burns my head

I feel the Wheel begin to turn

And you'll be standing on the shore

As I fly away

Like that day we took the boat

Like the city slowly receding towards the horizon

As you stood wrapped up in my coat

And I can't think of anyone Ill ever miss

Quite so much as you

And if you really believe in those Signs that you have

Well, I'll leave this one for you

Sacred Water

I can feel the Sacred Water

Calling me back

I can feel the Sacred Water

Calling me back

Calling me back

And this time I will be with you

And this time well see all there is to see

I can feel the hot sierra

Calling me back

I can feel the hot sierra

Calling me back

Calling me back

This place of Old Gods haunting

Through sierran storms and Chihuahuan heat

I can feel a storm is brewing

Over the sea

I can feel a storm is brewing

Over the sea

Over the sea

This new road's a mystery to me

Are you here to tread it with me?

Do you fear the fire within me?

Do you fear the ground beneath me?

After all, I met you in the sky

I can feel the Sacred Water

Calling me back

I can feel the Sacred Water

Calling me back

Calling me back

And this time I will be with you

And this time well see all there is to see.

My Gods And I

Well the Gods that I have chosen

Ne'er will be content

And the salt sea shall be frozen

Before I will repent

Repent I shall not never

Not even when I die

For the forests and the hills

And the stones and the fields

Are part of my Gods and I

Well the eagle flies a-way up high

And I'm on the forest floor

And the Green Man comes from between the trees

And tells me of his lore

He tells me of his ancient lore

That I might understand

That the forests and the hills

And the stones and the fields

Are sacred to this land

Well the Gods that I have chosen

Ne'er will be content

And the salt sea shall be frozen

The day that I repent

Repent I shall not never

Not even when I die

For the forests and the hills

And the stones and the fields

Are part of my Gods and I

The Magician

I'm  summoned here, well and gladly,

Magic is the request

I'll bring forth what I can for you

And do what I do best

There are runes here in this wallet

That burn the hands of thieves;

And keep the old pouch walking

Walking back to me

There are candles that have burned here

And will for years to come

Each one covering a bottle

With memories of things done

The lantern hangs here neatly

Right there by the door

But by night it calls the quarters

When its out there on the moor

But no wand nor magic cauldron

To you gathered here Ill bring

For all know a real magicians strength

Is brought forth from these six steel strings

Eighteen Miles

I walked eighteen miles in the snow and the rain

Through nine miles of joy and through nine miles of pain

And after eighteen miles, well I came upon your door

But before too long I was out on the road once more

Broken glass

Blood on the floor

Thirteen stitches

And a caution from the law

The landlord got in touch, almost the very next day

Quoting fire and brimstone, he was trying to make me pay

But I had walked those eighteen miles, and I knew that I was right

By eighteen miles I kept my distance from all their wrath and spite

Broken glass (etc)

Now all that was some time ago, and I'm a few miles further on

And all that lies behind me in the past and the setting sun

And though my new ambitions lie some miles up ahead

My eighteen miles makes up for it,

with all those tears we shared.

Broken glass (etc)

Seat Of Kings

I see lights on the moor

Lights on the hills again

I hear voices in the sky

Cold light through the rain

Old Nick is back again

No time to be out here alone

Calls through the wind

Echoes of ancient deeds and sins

Time to turn my back and hide

Caught in the hail

Twix'd bridge and stones I hear the wail

What you know, you must pass down

Cold Autumn fire

Spirals skyward as if a pyre

Who cares to burn this wilderness?

Old well on the path

Bless these footsteps as I pass

Grant me passage to your throne

Calls through the wind

Hallowed, ancient, Seat Of Kings

I cannot say

I cannot comprehend

Hawk Of May/Gwalchmai

I'll light a midnight fire

You dance by the riverside

From your earthly fears you're free

Safe in pagan company

Me, I'll sit and write this song

The Sun is warm and the night is long

Your magic is still within reach

The Gods they washed it up on the beach

And it's suddenly all clear to me

As we walk with the Green Man through the trees

You'll be my Queen today

And I will be your Hawk Of May

You hug your knees and gaze at the Moon

I squeeze my soul and make this tune

You cast your oldest fears away

I bow down to my Gods and pray

And it's suddenly all clear to me

As we walk with the Green Man through the trees

You'll be my Queen today

And I will be your Hawk Of May
